Turning the Peaks Pink

Ben Nevis hike to mark Organ & Tissue Donation Week 2024

During Organ & Tissue Donation Week (23 – 29 September 2024) the families of donor "heroes" and transplant recipients in Scotland climbed to the summit of Ben Nevis on 27 September to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.

The climb was part of the ‘Turn the Peaks Pink’ campaign for Organ and Tissue Donation Week, where donor families, transplant recipients and around 50 doctors and nurses from across NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government took on the Ben Nevis challenge, organised by NHS Blood and Transplant.

NHS staff across the UK also climbed the highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike), Wales (Yr Wyddfa - North Wales and  Pen Y Fan - South Wales) and Northern Ireland (Slieve Donard) for the challenge where all participants reached the summits simultaneously at 14:00 on the day.
